Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Golgari goad and token-attrition engine commanded by Rendmaw, Creaking Nest. The core game plan revolves around casting dual-type cards—such as artifact creatures, enchantment creatures, and artifact lands—to trigger Rendmaw repeatedly. Each trigger creates 2/2 flying Bird tokens for all players that are permanently goaded, forcing opponents into aggressive aerial battles with each other while leaving you untouched behind Rendmaw's 5/5 reach and menace body. As opponents whittle down their own life totals and trade off creatures, engines like Species Specialist, Morbid Opportunist, and Toski, Bearer of Secrets draw massive amounts of cards. The deck eventually breaks the parity of the shared token swarm using asymmetric cards like Massacre Wurm (which wipes opposing birds while dealing lethal burn), Ezuri's Predation, Coat of Arms, or overwhelming combat overruns such as Overwhelming Stampede to eliminate the table on Turn 7.
