Deck overview

This mono-black combo deck uses K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth to cheat mana costs by converting black mana pips into 2 life. The deck focuses on assembling compact, high-impact reanimation and storm engines. Its premier win condition relies on casting Buried Alive to put Necrotic Ooze, Asmodeus the Archfiend, and Skirge Familiar into the graveyard, followed by a cheap reanimation spell like Reanimate or Animate Dead. Because Necrotic Ooze gains Asmodeus's activated card-draw ability without its static drawback, and Skirge Familiar allows discarding cards for black mana, the ooze draws the entire deck and generates arbitrary black mana. The deck then closes the game on the spot with Aetherflux Reservoir or looped drain effects. Backup lines include Peer into the Abyss, Bolas's Citadel, and the two-card combo of Exquisite Blood with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose or Sanguine Bond.
