Deck overview

This is a general-power Toph, the First Metalbender midrange deck built around turning lands into temporary creature threats. Toph supplies one earthbend activation each end step, while Primal Vigor, Earth Kingdom General, Grumgully, the Generous, and other counter effects improve the creatures that remain on the battlefield. The deck also uses Allies, land ramp, large creatures, and permanent removal to build a board and win through combat. Its main strength is steady battlefield development: earthbent lands return after dying, and cards such as Avenger of Zendikar, Sun Titan, and World Shaper provide additional material. Its main weaknesses are slow threat conversion, limited card flow, little protection, and no compact finisher. Toph is usually cast around turn 4, but the first decisive board appears closer to turn 8. The deck can win long games through combat, yet its completion time depends heavily on creatures surviving and opponents failing to produce blockers or sweepers.
