Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Grixis Aristocrats and Threaten strategy commanded by Marchesa, the Black Rose. Marchesa provides Dethrone to your creatures and returns any creature that dies with a +1/+1 counter back to the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step. The deck leverages this ability by combining sacrifice outlets like Goblin Bombardment and Ashnod's Altar with instant counter engines such as Unspeakable Symbol and The Ozolith. It repeatedly triggers potent enter-the-battlefield and death triggers across all four turn cycles. High-impact pieces like Glen Elendra Archmage generate near-impenetrable soft locks on noncreature spells, while Gray Merchant of Asphodel rapidly drains the table. Additionally, temporary theft effects like Mark of Mutiny and Sower of Temptation allow you to put +1/+1 counters on stolen creatures, sacrifice them, and permanently retain them under your control upon resurrection.
