Deck overview

This deck is an oppressive mono-black stax and attrition strategy built around Tergrid, God of Fright. The game plan revolves around accelerating into Tergrid on turn 4 or 5 and immediately triggering symmetrical discard and sacrifice effects such as Dark Deal, Fleshbag Marauder, and Bottomless Pit. Whenever opponents discard permanent cards or sacrifice nontoken permanents, Tergrid steals them directly onto your battlefield, creating an overwhelming resource disparity that strips the table of answers while building an imposing army. Resource engines like Waste Not and Geth's Grimoire ensure continuous card flow and mana surplus during mass discard turns. The deck locks opponents out of meaningful development through stax pieces like Oppression and the Opposition Agent plus Maralen of the Mornsong search lock. Victory is achieved by attacking with stolen permanents, draining the table with Tinybones, Trinket Thief or Syr Konrad, the Grim, or executing the two-card infinite combo between Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank.
