Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Mono-Black Zombie Aristocrats strategy commanded by Zul Ashur, Lich Lord. The deck leverages high tribal synergy to turn the graveyard into an accessible second hand. Early turns focus on accelerating mana with rituals, cost-reducers, and utility lands while depositing high-value Zombies into the graveyard. By Turn 4, the deck assembles its core engine consisting of a sacrifice outlet, recursive fodder, and card draw on death. On Turn 5, it transitions into a decisive win by looping Gravecrawler through Phyrexian Altar or Warren Soultrader alongside drain payoffs like Plague Belcher or Vengeful Dead, draining all opponents simultaneously. The deck also possesses strong secondary paths through Bolas's Citadel, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and asymmetric board suppression via Dictate of Erebos and Noxious Ghoul. While resilient to creature combat and spot destruction, the deck must navigate vulnerability to instant-speed graveyard exile and artifact removal.
