I Mer Folk You Up

Format: Commander

Commander: Talrand, Sky Summoner

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is a mono-blue control build helmed by Talrand, Sky Summoner, whose trigger turns every instant and sorcery into a 2/2 flying Drake token. The primary game plan is to deploy Talrand early, then dominate the stack with a dense counterspell suite while slowly accumulating a flying army. Bounce spells (Snap, Winds of Rebuke, Aether Gale) and theft effects (Control Magic, Thieving Skydiver) clear the way, while card draw (Mystic Remora, Fact or Fiction) keeps the hand full. A secondary Merfolk tribal package (Alandra, Sky Dreamer, Attuma, Atlantean Warlord, Coat of Arms) provides additional token production and mass pump, but the core engine remains Talrand's drakes. Thassa's Oracle offers an alternative win if devotion to blue grows high enough. The deck wins through combat damage from a wide board of fliers, often augmented by Coat of Arms or Waterspout Weavers.
