Deck overview

This deck is built around Kona, Rescue Beastie, using low-cost tap enablers to trigger its Survival ability on the turn it enters the battlefield. Rather than paying 8 to 12 mana for format-ending behemoths, the deck cheats cards like Portal to Phyrexia, Blightsteel Colossus, Worldspine Wurm, and It That Betrays into play as early as turns 3 or 4. Dense one-mana ramp ensures Kona arrives ahead of curve, while vehicles, station spacecraft, and lands like Survivors' Encampment allow Kona to tap immediately without relying on combat. Once a threat hits the board, the deck quickly pivots into a decisive clock or an insurmountable stax lock via Portal to Phyrexia. While vulnerable to well-timed instant-speed removal targeting Kona before the second main phase, the list includes a suite of cheap protection spells and robust hardcast backup plans powered by Gaea's Cradle and Selvala, Heart of the Wilds.
