Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul aggressive stompy strategy centered on Toph, Greatest Earthbender and the Earthbend mechanic. The primary game plan accelerates mana on Turns 1 and 2 with efficient ramp spells, then deploys Toph on Turn 4 to convert lands into large, hasty creatures with double strike. The deck scales its damage output using +1/+1 counter doublers like Branching Evolution and The Earth Crystal, while granting critical evasion through cards like Kodama of the West Tree and Badgermole. Because earthbent lands return to the battlefield tapped when destroyed or exiled, the deck retains exceptional mana resilience against sweepers. Recasting Toph also scales her Earthbend trigger with commander tax, ensuring high recovery velocity. The deck overwhelms opposing life totals through massive double-striking combat damage, closing out the game across Turns 5 to 7.
