Deck overview

This Esper control deck uses Y'shtola, Night's Blessed to turn reactive spellslinging into continuous card advantage and global life drain. The primary plan leverages damage-on-hit Auras such as Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, and Helm of the Ghastlord attached to Y'shtola. Whenever you cast a noncreature spell with mana value three or greater, Y'shtola damages all opponents simultaneously, drawing up to three cards per cast. You maintain board control using counterspells, targeted removal, and selective sweepers while whittling enemy life totals. Late-game finishers such as Wound Reflection, Painful Quandary, Bloodchief Ascension, and Shark Typhoon accelerate this clock to close out the game.
