Deck overview

This is an Orzhov Aura deck led by Killian, Decisive Mentor. Its main plan is to deploy Killian, add a draw creature such as Sram, Senior Edificer or Mesa Enchantress, and use Killian's cost reduction to cast several creature-targeting Auras. The Auras enlarge a threat, provide evasion or protection, tap and goad opposing creatures, and draw cards through the commander or enchantress effects. The deck has strong internal synergy and many useful defensive cards, including Ghostly Prison, Promise of Loyalty, and Winds of Rath. Its main limitation is not its ability to build one large creature; it is converting that advantage into a reliable table finish. The deck has no supported infinite combo, extra-turn chain, or total lock. Its ordinary game is therefore incremental: establish an Aura engine around turn 5, create a must-answer attacker around turn 8, and rely on combat, attrition, and political effects to win later if opponents cannot disrupt the board.
