Deck overview

This is a Golgari midrange deck centered on Rendmaw, Creaking Nest. The commander creates a tapped 2/2 Bird for every player when it enters and whenever you play a card with two or more card types. Those Birds remain goaded, so they create persistent combat pressure and redirect attacks among opponents. The deck supplements them with token multipliers such as Parallel Lives and Primal Vigor, life-loss engines such as Mirkwood Bats, Poison-Tip Archer, and Blood Artist, and sacrifice outlets such as Lampad of Death's Vigil and Cauldron of Essence. Ramp is solid for a noncompetitive list, and recursion gives it some staying power. Its main limitations are five-mana commander deployment, weak access to specific enchantment payoffs, limited protection, and the absence of a deterministic finish. It usually develops a strong board around turns 7–8 but does not reliably end the game afterward.
