Deck overview

This deck executes an Abzan Voltron strategy centered on Kathril, Aspect Warper. The primary game plan accelerates mana on early turns, uses targeted graveyard tutors like Buried Alive and Entomb to bin keyword-rich creatures such as Zetalpa, Primal Dawn and Vampire Nighthawk, and casts Kathril on Turn 5. Upon entering, Kathril distributes keyword counters to itself, transforming into an 11/11 flying, double strike, trample, hexproof, and indestructible commander capable of eliminating opponents in single swings. Combat takes three turns to clear the table, concluding on Turn 8. High built-in resilience shields the commander from conventional spot removal and sweepers. As an independent backup plan, the deck integrates compact two-card infinite damage loops with Heliod, Sun-Crowned and Walking Ballista, or Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Triskelion.
