Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan lifegain and reanimator strategy piloted by Betor, Ancestor's Voice. The game plan balances deliberate life-loss mechanics—such as painlands, Sylvan Library, and Black Market Connections—with dense lifegain triggers from Soul Sisters and lifelink beaters. Betor leverages this dual resource manipulation to put massive +1/+1 counters on attackers while reanimating high-value creatures directly from the graveyard during your end step. The deck builds a formidable board presence with mid-game powerhouses like Nykthos Paragon, Beledros Witherbloom, and Vilis, Broker of Blood. It closes games either through overwhelming flying combat damage or via the compact infinite drain combo of Enduring Tenacity and Exquisite Blood. A robust suite of premium Abzan removal provides flexible answers to opposing threats, while cheap protection spells safeguard your battlefield.
