Deck overview

This mono-black control/combo deck is helmed by Valgavoth, Terror Eater, a massive flyer with lifelink and a powerful exile-and-play engine that turns opponents' graveyards into a personal library. The primary game plan is to accelerate mana via a dense package of Swamp doublers (Crypt Ghast, Nirkana Revenant, Cabal Coffers) and ritual effects, then assemble an infinite life-drain loop (Exquisite Blood paired with Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or Bloodletter of Aclazotz) or overwhelm the table with a massive Torment of Hailfire. The deck also leverages sacrifice outlets (Ashnod's Altar, Warren Soultrader) alongside Grave Pact/Dictate of Erebos to control the board while generating value from death triggers. Valgavoth provides a secondary win condition through combat and value from exiled cards, but the deck's core resides in the 99.
