Deck overview

This deck combines the oppressive taxing power of Grand Arbiter Augustin IV with a dedicated Angel tribal combat strategy. The game plan focuses on slowing down opposing development using asymmetric stax pieces like Drannith Magistrate, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Ghostly Prison, and the commander's built-in spell tax. Meanwhile, the deck leverages cost reducers such as Giada, Font of Hope, Starnheim Aspirant, and Urza's Incubator to deploy large flying Angels well ahead of schedule. Synergies between Righteous Valkyrie, Bishop of Wings, Archangel of Thune, and Lyra, Archangel of Dawn generate massive life totals and pump the team with +1/+1 counters. With high-end protection from Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Sephara, Sky's Blade, and Teferi's Protection, the deck grinds opponents out under heavy taxes before closing the game through overwhelming aerial combat damage.
