Deck overview

This deck is a focused Rakdos Group Slug strategy commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The game plan revolves around deploying cheap, persistent damage sources such as Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, Ankh of Mishra, and Underworld Dreams that force opponents to lose life on their own turns. Once Valgavoth enters the battlefield, these triggers draw up to three extra cards per turn cycle while rapidly growing the commander into a massive flying threat. The resulting card advantage fuels efficient removal, low-cost protection spells, and powerful damage multipliers like Solphim, Mayhem Dominus and Wound Reflection. Opponents are caught in a vise where basic game actions like tapping lands, drawing cards, and casting spells steadily deplete their life totals, while anti-life gain effects prevent stabilization. The deck reliably closes out games around turn 7 through a mixture of commander combat damage, unpreventable burn, and asymmetric drain.
