Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan lifegain midrange strategy commanded by Betor, Ancestor's Voice. The deck blends classic Soul Sisters lifegain enablers with aggressive +1/+1 counter beaters and Aristocrats-style drain enchantments. In the early game, cheap creatures like Soul Warden and Ajani's Pridemate build board presence while padding the life total. Once Betor enters the battlefield, every point of life gained amplifies attackers with massive end-step counter distribution, while life-loss triggers provide incidental creature reanimation. Opponents face dual-axis pressure from towering evasive fliers and passive drain effects like Dina, Soul Steeper, Enduring Tenacity, and Sanguine Bond. The deck excels at grinding through creature-based combat matchups, though its lower ramp density and lack of dedicated protection make it susceptible to timely board wipes.
