Deck overview

This Dimir deck is built around Satoru Umezawa, using cheap, unblockable 1-drop creatures to consistently cheat massive high-CMC threats into play via ninjutsu on Turn 4. Satoru's static ability gives every creature in hand ninjutsu for {2}{U}{B} while his triggered ability filters through the top of the library to keep hand resources replenished. The deck leverages devastating combat payoffs like Archon of Cruelty, Darksteel Colossus, and Archfiend of Despair to dismantle opponent boards and accelerate life totals downward. A dense suite of low-cost interaction spells provides protection and disruption against opposing win conditions. If Satoru is removed, redundant cheat mechanics through Buried Alive, Grave Researcher // Reanimate, and Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow ensure the deck can still present formidable must-answer threats without hardcasting its most expensive spells.
