Deck overview

This Golgari deck is an optimized Aristocrats Combo build centered on Gorma, the Gullet. Gorma's static ability grants entering nontoken creatures +1/+1 counters equal to the number of creatures that died under your control this turn. When a creature with persist (such as Putrid Goblin, Lesser Masticore, or Rendclaw Trow) dies, it returns to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter from persist and a +1/+1 counter from Gorma. State-based actions immediately cancel both counters, allowing the persist creature to be sacrificed repeatedly without limit. Paired with free sacrifice outlets like Viscera Seer, Carrion Feeder, or Altar of Dementia, and payoffs such as Marionette Apprentice or Zulaport Cutthroat, the deck executes an instant same-turn kill on Turn 4. Compact backup lines like Witherbloom Apprentice combined with Chain of Smog ensure lethality even if the commander is removed.
