Deck overview

Aphelia, Viper Whisperer commands a synergistic Golgari tribal deck built around deathtouch creatures and aggressive combat-triggered life loss. The early game focuses on deploying low-cost deathtouch Snakes, establishing efficient mana acceleration, and resolving card advantage engines like Black Market Connections or Guardian Project. Once Aphelia is active, she consistently generates additional deathtouch Snake tokens on attack, rapidly widening the board. The mid-game leverages Aphelia's {4}{B} activated ability to halve opponents' life totals on combat connection, drastically compressing the clock alongside life-loss amplifiers like Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Wound Reflection. Alternative lethal avenues include poison counters via Fynn, the Fangbearer, an Overrun finish with Triumph of the Hordes, or the infinite drain combo of Enduring Tenacity and Exquisite Blood. The list relies on deathtouch for natural board control while using versatile removal to clear opposing threats.
