Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis Midrange strategy built around Sauron, the Dark Lord. It leverages Sauron's triggered abilities to build an ever-growing Orc Army from opponent spells while turning combat damage into repeated hand-refills via the Ring tempts mechanic. The creature base maximizes consistency by utilizing nine copies of Nazgûl, which scale power and toughness rapidly whenever the Ring tempts you. Strong card-draw engines such as Teferi's Ageless Insight and The Locust God convert these wheel triggers into overwhelming token swarms and board pressure. The interaction and protection suites are highly efficient, featuring premier free counterspells like Fierce Guardianship and Force of Negation alongside resilient reanimation packages. Sauron's demanding Ward cost provides natural insulation against single-target removal, allowing the deck to outvalue and overpower the table through relentless midrange combat pressure.
