Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black control and aristocrats engine commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The deck focuses on controlling the battlefield through asymmetric creature sacrifice, dense board wipes, and continuous death triggers. Early turns focus on mana development using utility lands like Cabal Coffers and rocks like Arcane Signet, while deploying value engines such as Braids, Arisen Nightmare, Ophiomancer, and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. Once established around Turn 5, the deck transitions into critical onset on Turn 6 by deploying oppressive attrition pieces like Grave Pact, Portal to Phyrexia, or casting Avacyn to establish end-step recursion loops. Payoffs such as Kokusho, the Evening Star, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Syr Konrad, the Grim repeatedly drain opposing life totals, closing out the game across two response cycles by Turn 8. The deck also contains an emergency two-card combo in Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond to instantly drain the table.
