Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan aggressive midrange strategy commanded by Doran, Besieged by Time. The game plan revolves around leveraging creatures with disproportionately high toughness to exploit Doran's dual abilities: discounting creature spells with greater toughness than power, and granting large +X/+X combat bonuses equal to the power/toughness difference whenever those creatures attack or block. Early turns focus on mana fixing and deploying cheap high-toughness blockers like Great Forest Druid and Moonlit Lamenter. Once Doran enters on Turn 4, these modest defenders transform into potent offensive threats, attacking as 4/8s, 5/8s, and 5/10s. The deck supplements this beatdown with selective removal like Crib Swap and Winnowing, counter manipulation, and kindred synergies. Because the strategy wins entirely through honest ground combat over multiple turns, it relies on maintaining board presence and applying steady pressure across the table.
