Deck overview

This Orzhov midrange deck pairs lifegain synergies with classic aristocrats sacrifice engines, led by Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim. The deck focuses on assembling cheap creatures and token generators alongside life-tracking drain triggers such as Blood Artist, Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim, and Zulaport Cutthroat. Card draw engines like Grim Haruspex, Morbid Opportunist, and Skullclamp keep resources flowing while an extensive suite of flexible removal answers opposing threats. In the mid-to-late game, the deck transitions from incremental life-drain attrition to lethal board states using Archangel of Thune, massive Gray Merchant of Asphodel swings, or instant two-card infinite combos like Exquisite Blood paired with Sanguine Bond or Heliod, Sun-Crowned with Walking Ballista. Powerful recursion engines ensure rapid recovery from sweepers.
