Deck overview

An Abzan "toughness matters" midrange deck led by Doran, Besieged by Time. The plan is to fill the board with creatures whose toughness vastly exceeds their power, then use Assault Formation, Bedrock Tortoise, Ancient Lumberknot, Tapestry Warden, and Baldin, Century Herdmaster to convert those giant butts into real damage. Doran also discounts virtually every creature in the deck, letting the shell come down faster than its raw mana costs suggest. The deck wins primarily through combat: massive toughness-based swings, one-shot commander-damage turns with Captain America's Shield or Stoneskin, and life-total pressure from Tree of Perdition, Tree of Redemption, Rush of Dread, and Betor, Kin to All. It is a fair, grindy deck that out-sizes opponents and then rebuilds with Colfenor's Urn, Eerie Ultimatum, and Rise of the Dark Realms.
