Deck overview

This Golgari deck uses Hazel of the Rootbloom to convert Squirrel tokens into both board presence and mana acceleration. The game plan focuses on deploying early Squirrel generators, casting Hazel on Turn 4, and duplicating tokens at each end step. By Turn 5, Hazel taps these tokens to generate a substantial mana surplus, enabling explosive turns with powerful anthems like Beastmaster Ascension and Coat of Arms, or token multipliers like Doubling Season and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. Secondary drain engines such as Bastion of Remembrance, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Nadier's Nightblade penalize opponents for removing tokens, while Chatterfang, Squirrel General provides board control. The deck closes games quickly once an anthem resolves, eliminating the table through combat or drain within 1 to 2 turn cycles.
