Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet Giant tribal and burn control deck commanded by Aegar, the Freezing Flame. The primary strategy focuses on controlling the battlefield through damage-based removal and sweepers that trigger Aegar's ability whenever excess damage is dealt to opposing creatures or planeswalkers. This interaction converts standard board control into substantial card advantage, keeping your hand full of threats and answers. In the mid-to-late game, the deck accelerates into massive Giants like Inferno Titan, Cyclone Summoner, and Calamity Bearer, while deploying damage multipliers such as Fiery Emancipation and Torbran, Thane of Red Fell. Finishers include heavy combat damage, Surtland Flinger sacrifices, and lethal multi-target burn spells like Jaya's Immolating Inferno and Comet Storm fueled by Mana Geyser. While the deck excels at suppressing opposing creature boards, its reliance on sorcery-speed threats and lack of countermagic make it vulnerable to fast combo and noncreature strategies.
