Deck overview

This Esper control deck operates almost entirely at instant speed, exploiting the draw-go philosophy. Led by Chromium, the Mutable, the deck stays untapped during its own turns, holding up mana for an extensive suite of counterspells, spot removal, and flash blockers. It establishes card advantage through flash engines such as Slitherwisp, Nymris, Oona's Trickster, and Wavebreak Hippocamp, which turn reactive plays into fresh resources on opponents' turns. Cost reducers like Cunning Nightbonder and Naiad of Hidden Coves enhance mana efficiency during opposing rotations. Once opponents' key threats are neutralized and table resources are exhausted, the deck deploys Chromium, the Mutable at an opponent's end step. Chromium provides a 7/7 flying, uncounterable clock that can discard cards to gain hexproof and unblockable status, systematically eliminating players through commander damage. Alternatively, the deck can dig into Approach of the Second Sun or turn opposing aggression back on players using Inkshield to close the game.
