Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Spellslinger Control build commanded by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The strategy focuses on establishing early mana acceleration into a Turn 3 Y'shtola, quickly converting high-mana-value noncreature spells into table-wide life drain and substantial lifegain. By enchanting Y'shtola with effects like Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, or Helm of the Ghastlord, every 3+ MV spell cast triggers 2 damage to each opponent, drawing three fresh cards and fueling an endless chain of interaction. A robust suite of stax and tax permanents—including Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, Teferi, Time Raveler, Narset, Parter of Veils, and Cursed Totem—stifles opposing development while the pilot maintains full control over the stack using premium countermagic and removal. The game concludes either through cumulative burn, poison counters via Phyresis, Bolas's Citadel storm lines, or the instant-win combo of an active Bloodchief Ascension paired with Mindcrank.
