Deck overview

The Great Goblin leads a Rakdos strategy focused on Goblin tribal synergies, Amass mechanics, and counter-based aristocrats burn. The deck places counters on Goblins, Orcs, and Armies using Amass and Blight to trigger 2 damage per instance from the commander. When those creatures die, the commander exiles cards from the library to maintain card access through your next turn. Secondary burn engines like Mirkwood Bats and Lasting Tarfire supplement damage while growing a central Goblin Army token. However, a slim mana base of 31 lands and minimal acceleration creates mana friction, slowing setup. Without fast tutors or infinite combos, the deck relies on natural draws to build its board. Pressure accumulates gradually, assembling a must-answer board around Turn 7 and requiring three full response cycles to eliminate all opponents by Turn 10. Spot removal provides interaction against opposing creatures, but a lack of countermagic and protection leaves the primary engine exposed.
