Deck overview

This deck executes an Abzan midrange strategy centered on toxic, infect, and proliferate mechanics. Led by Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa, the primary game plan is to deliver early poison counters to all opponents to unlock corrupted bonuses and Ixhel's card-stealing ability. Once the table is seeded with poison, the deck transitions into the midgame with resilient threats and repeated proliferation triggers from cards like Bloated Contaminator, Evolution Sage, and Contagion Engine. Rather than dealing 120 regular combat damage, the deck only needs to stack 10 poison counters on each opponent. While vulnerable to repeated creature sweepers and lacking stack interaction, the permanence of poison counters and strong late-game token producers like Phyrexian Swarmlord and Vishgraz, the Doomhive provide dependable closing power.
