New Untitled Deck

Commander: Satoru Umezawa

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

At first glance this looks like a ninja-tribal deck, but Satoru Umezawa is actually the delivery system for a **Dimin -1/-1 counter engine**. The plan is to grind with enchantment engines - Nest of Scarabs, Blowfly Infestation, and Toxrill, the Corrosive - while using ninjutsu to cheat huge black creatures into play for free after an unblocked token attack, most notably Maha, Its Feathers Night (turning every enemy creature into a 1-toughness victim of any slime counter in a pinch). The primary winning channel is the mix of drain and infinite loops: Mindcrank + Bloodchief Ascension is a classic one-card kill for politics; Blowfly Infestation + Nest of Scarabs + Yawgmoth, Thran Physician func' as an infinite engine repeatedly distributing -1/-1 counters and drawing cards while a drain commander like The Meathook Massacre pings everyone. Every retraction on the deck holds a hailstorm: an X spell fear like Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate to close games when the counters don't.
