Deck overview

This Izzet deck is an aggressive extra-combat Voltron strategy spearheaded by Karlach, Fury of Avernus and Sword Coast Sailor. By guaranteeing unblockable attacks against the player with the highest life total, the commander pairing swings for 10 commander damage across two combat phases each turn starting on turn 4 or 5. The list supports this relentless combat tempo with redundant extra-combat engines such as Moraug, Fury of Akoum, Bloodthirster, and Relentless Assault, alongside explosive damage multipliers like Embercleave. Card velocity and mana generation are fueled by combat connections via The Reaver Cleaver, Enduring Curiosity, and Professional Face-Breaker. An efficient suite of cheap interaction and free protection spells, including Deflecting Swat, Mithril Coat, and Stubborn Denial, protects Karlach from disruption, while an alternate infinite combo in Combat Celebrant and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker offers an instant table-wide finish.
