Deck overview

This is an Esper theft-control list built around Merieke Ri Berit's tap ability: steal a creature, then either keep it or untap her to destroy it and immediately point her at the next body. A dense untap suite - Freed from the Real, Pemmin's Aura, Aphetto Alchemist, Ioreth of the Healing House, Dramatic Reversal, and several one-shot untap artifacts - turns that single tap into repeatable removal or a growing stolen army. A stax and pillowfort layer (Rule of Law, Archon of Emeria, Drannith Magistrate, Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, Authority of the Consuls, Blind Obedience) keeps the table at one taxed spell a turn while Merieke disassembles the board. Actual closers live in the 99: Approach of the Second Sun, Expropriate, Torment of Hailfire, Rise of the Dark Realms, plus Agent of Treachery and Blatant Thievery. Merieke is a cheap, recastable theft engine, not a tutor or a required combo piece; the same untap toys assemble mana loops with Marvin, Murderous Mimic or Illusionist's Bracers that dump into Torment without her.
