Deck overview

The Astonishing Ant-Man headlines a dynamic Simic midrange strategy centered on converting card draw into +1/+1 counters and creature tokens. The deck accelerates in the opening turns with efficient two-mana ramp spells, reliably deploying Ant-Man on turn two. From there, it establishes powerful card-drawing engines such as Teferi's Ageless Insight, Skullclamp, and Brainsurge to rapidly inflate Ant-Man with counters. These counters can be cashed in for a wide army of Insect tokens or amplified using counter-doublers like Zimone, Paradox Sculptor and Hardened Scales. The deck protects its proactive game plan with a robust suite of cheap counterspells including Flare of Denial and targeted protection like Royal Treatment. While it lacks stax effects and unconditional tutors, its immense card velocity and redundant engine pieces consistently assemble a commanding board state by turn six, closing the game out around turn eight through unblockable commander damage, token swarms, or Simic Ascendancy.
