Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Dungeon Reanimator build led by Sefris of the Hidden Ways. The primary game plan uses cheap looters and mill effects such as Merfolk Looter, Likeness Looter, and Ripples of Undeath to discard creatures, triggering Sefris once each turn to advance through dungeons. Completing Lost Mine of Phandelver triggers Sefris's Create Undead ability to cheat massive threats like Archon of Cruelty, Consecrated Sphinx, or Serra's Emissary onto the battlefield. Backed by board sweepers like Toxic Deluge and combat taxes like Ghostly Prison, the deck controls the pace of play. While it features exceptional grind potential and high functional redundancy across its discard and payoff suites, it lacks fast mana, high-power tutors, and combo finishes.
