Format: Commander

Commander: Niv-Mizzet, Visionary

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Niv-Mizzet, Visionary leads an Izzet spellslinger deck that turns every small noncreature spell into a pinger trigger and a card-draw trigger. The primary plan is to land Niv behind cheap cost reducers and rituals, then chain cantrips, rituals, and instants while one or more pingers (Firebrand Archer, Electrostatic Field, Guttersnipe) burn all opponents and Niv refills the hand. A secondary line uses Underworld Breach with Dragon's Rage Channeler and Frantic Search to draw the library into Laboratory Maniac. The commander's role is primarily a draw engine; Curiosity/Ophidian Eye are best on a pinger, not on Niv, because his trigger is noncombat damage. There is no hidden commander; Ral is a support card.
