Deck overview

This deck is a classic Golgari Aristocrats and Reanimator strategy led by Meren of Clan Nel Toth. The primary game plan revolves around loading the graveyard with high-utility and high-impact creatures using cards like Buried Alive, Hermit Druid, and Stitcher's Supplier. Once Meren is deployed, self-sacrificing creatures rapidly build experience counters to cheat expensive threats directly onto the battlefield every end step. The deck controls opposing creature boards by repeatedly looping edict creatures like Plaguecrafter and Accursed Marauder. To close the game, it cycles life-draining creatures like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Kokusho, the Evening Star using sacrifice outlets like Phyrexian Altar and Viscera Seer, or executes a sweeping board swing with Living Death. It offers high mid-game inevitability and deep resource recursion, balanced by a reliance on keeping its graveyard intact and defending its key permanents from exile effects.
