Format: Commander

Commander: Mai, Scornful Striker

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Mai, Scornful Striker is a mono-black value deck that taxes every noncreature spell while generating Clues, sacrificing permanents, and building a graveyard engine. The primary plan is to outlast opponents with card draw and recursion, then close with a wide board of attackers and incremental drain. Secondary paths include The Rise of Sozin // Fire Lord Sozin as a board wipe and reanimation engine, and Fire Nation Salvagers to steal creatures from opponents' graveyards. Mai is a cheap early tax and attacker, but the deck does not depend on her. The hidden commander is The Rise of Sozin // Fire Lord Sozin, whose Saga side resets the board and whose transformed side reanimates a winning board.
