Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is spearheaded by Smaug the Impenetrable, an 8/7 flying dragon with built-in indestructible and haste that converts all noncombat damage dealt to it into Treasure tokens. The strategy leverages mass damage sweepers and self-damage spells like Blasphemous Act, Star of Extinction, and Cut Propulsion to simultaneously clear the battlefield and generate massive piles of mana. This explosion of Treasures fuels direct burn and drain outlets such as Mirkwood Bats, Reckless Fireweaver, and Agent of the Iron Throne, or powers decisive combat overruns using Craterclaw Colossus. Additionally, the deck features an infinite combo utilizing Pariah's Shield with Pyrohemia or Pestilence, allowing repeatable activations that burn the entire table while redirecting player damage to indestructible Smaug to produce surplus mana. With strong Dragon synergies, flexible instant removal, and robust backup lines in Wrathful Red Dragon, the deck delivers resilient mid-game closing power.
