Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain and group slug control deck commanded by Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. The primary strategy focuses on establishing symmetric life-loss taxes on spellcasting while breaking parity through Liesa's lifelink and supporting lifegain engines. By taxing every spell cast by 2 life, the deck rapidly drains opposing life totals while building an insurmountable life buffer. The midgame is controlled through an extensive suite of versatile spot removal and flexible sweepers such as Austere Command and Vanquish the Horde. Once opponents are softened by attrition and flying combat damage, the deck closes the game decisively using scaled drain sorceries like Debt to the Deathless and Exsanguinate, or triggered damage multipliers such as Sanguine Bond and Vizkopa Guildmage. Liesa's unique ability to pay life instead of commander tax provides extraordinary resilience against targeted removal.
