Deck overview

This Mono-Black Control deck is commanded by Horobi, Death's Wail, turning obscure utility cards—such as Baton of Morale, Distorting Lens, Tower of the Magistrate, and Touch of Darkness—into hyper-efficient, repeatable creature removal engines. By exploiting Horobi's symmetrical ability, the deck dismantles opposing commanders, utility creatures, and combat boards at instant speed for minimal mana. It backs this suppression with card draw engines like Morbid Opportunist and Necropotence, while draining opponents via aristocrats such as Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat. The deck leverages massive mana generation from Cabal Coffers, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and Crypt Ghast to decisively close games with a lethal Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, or a table-sweeping Rise of the Dark Realms.
