Deck overview

This deck is an Esper control and cheat strategy built around Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign. The primary objective is to accelerate mana during the early turns while sculpting the top of the library with tools like Sensei's Divining Top, Scroll Rack, and Lim-Dûl's Vault. Once Yennett enters the battlefield on turn 4, it attacks on turn 5 to cast massive odd-costed spells for free, bypassing their hefty mana costs. Cheated bombs like Void Winnower, Portal to Phyrexia, Toxrill, the Corrosive, and Breach the Multiverse establish asymmetric locks, sweep opposing boards, and generate overwhelming board presence. A strong suite of interaction—including Fierce Guardianship, Force of Negation, Void Rend, and Swords to Plowshares—protects the game plan and disrupts faster opponents. The deck wins by grinding out the table through combat damage and persistent attrition.
