Deck overview

Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker builds on an almost mono-black swarm of 29 Shadowborn Apostles. The deck's primary plan is to flood the board with 1/1 Clerics, convert six at a time into Demons via the Apostles' sacrifice ability, and use Shirei's end-step recursion to reuse the same Clerics every turn. Secondary paths include Thrumming Stone ripple chains, Liliana's Contract's four-Demon upkeep victory, and Contamination lockdown. The commander is the recursion engine: without her, the Apostles are one-use fuel. The hidden commander is Shadowborn Apostle itself; Shirei exists to make that card a reusable demon tutor. Win lines converge on Blood Artist/Zulaport Cutthroat/Bastion triggers, amplified by Archfiend of Despair.
