Deck overview

This deck is a focused Gruul Werewolf and Wolf tribal aggro strategy led by Tovolar, Dire Overlord. The primary game plan deploys aggressive low-cost Wolves on early turns to curve into Tovolar by Turn 3. Once deployed, Tovolar turns combat damage into immediate card draw, keeping your hand full while curving out. On your Turn 4 upkeep, controlling three or more Wolves automatically shifts the game to Night, transforming your Human Werewolves into oversized beaters with enhanced combat abilities like trample, menace, and power buffs. The deck overwhelms opponents by scaling its board presence and dealing lethal combat damage across successive combat steps. Standalone powerhouses like Tovolar's Huntmaster, Avabruck Caretaker, and Instigator Gang accelerate the clock, while cheap instant-speed protection spells defend key creatures from removal. Although vulnerable to mass exile sweepers and reliant on combat steps, the deck maintains high velocity through Tovolar's steady card draw.
