Deck overview

This is an Esper spells-matter control/drain deck built around Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The plan is to slow the table with counterspells, instant-speed removal, pillowfort, and taxes, then grind out the game with mana value 3 or greater noncreature spells: each one deals 2 damage to each opponent, gains you 2 life, and helps satisfy Y'shtola's end-step draw condition. Card advantage is layered through Phyrexian Arena, Valeria Richards, Precocious, Queza, Augur of Agonies, and spell-recursion engines like Emet-Selch of the Third Seat and Counterpoint. There is no infinite combo; the deck wins by attrition - repeated Y'shtola triggers, Sanguine Bond amplifying lifegain, Painful Quandary, Circle of Power's wizard token, and a late Exsanguinate. Drogskol Reaver plus a curiosity effect offers an alternate lifelink combat draw engine. This is a draw-go resilience deck rather than a fast combo deck.
