Bottom Birb by legobumb

Format: Commander

Commander: Derevi, Empyrial Tactician

Bracket: 5

Deck overview

This deck is a highly optimized Bant Stax and Combo strategy helmed by Derevi, Empyrial Tactician. The primary game plan revolves around deploying early resource-denial pieces like Winter Orb and Static Orb, and using Derevi's combat damage triggers to untap your own permanents, effectively breaking parity on the stax locks. While opponents are starved of mana, the deck actively digs for its infinite mana combos. The main win conditions involve looping Peregrine Drake with Emiel the Blessed, or using Emiel to blink Derevi to repeatedly untap Chromatic Orrery. Once infinite mana is achieved, the deck can draw itself using the Orrery or other mana sinks, clear the board with Cyclonic Rift, and secure the win. Derevi is essential to the deck's function, acting as a stax parity-breaker, a combo piece, and an uncounterable instant-speed untapper that bypasses commander tax.
