Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Gruul tribal aggro strategy centered around Tovolar, Dire Overlord. The primary game plan curves out with aggressive Wolves and Werewolves on Turns 1 and 2, lands Tovolar on Turn 3, and converts early combat connections into significant card advantage. By controlling three or more Wolves, Tovolar automatically shifts the game to Nightbound on Turn 4 upkeep, flipping your creatures into their formidable back faces with boosted stats and evasive keywords. The deck transitions into a lethal threat by Turn 5 using mass pump effects like Shared Animosity, Beastmaster Ascension, or Unnatural Growth, alongside Tovolar's built-in trample buff. While vulnerable to sweepers and exile removal, the high card velocity provided by Tovolar allows the deck to rapidly rebuild and close games over three combat steps.
