Deck overview

This is a Bant politics-and-proliferate deck helmed by Kros, Defense Contractor. The core strategy revolves around putting counters on opponents' creatures to tap and goad them, forcing them to attack each other while you build up your own board. The commander's upkeep trigger provides a free shield counter on an opponent's creature, which then becomes a tapped, goaded attacker. The deck layers in a heavy proliferation package (Inexorable Tide, Flux Channeler, Evolution Sage, Thrummingbird, Grateful Apparition) to rapidly grow counter-based value, drawing extra cards with Generous Patron and Fathom Mage, and eventually closing out the game through Simic Ascendancy or an overwhelming combat step with Kalonian Hydra and Deepglow Skate. The goad/tap theme also fuels secondary payoffs like Hylda of the Icy Crown and Verity Circle for card advantage. It is a midrange control deck that seeks to out-value opponents while letting them fight each other.
